Burrillville

Burrillville is a rural town located in Providence County in the northwest corner of Rhode Island. Incorporated in 1806, this quiet town is rich with history dating back to the Industrial Revolution. Its multiple villages are named after the original mills that stood there. Preserved historic buildings such as the Assembly Theater, built during the Great Depression in 1933, and the Bridgeton Schoolhouse, built in 1897, are still standing.

Because of its landscape, there is much to do outside in Burrillville with management areas to hike, fish, bike, hunt, and bird watch. Hikers coming from the Buck Hill Management Area can view the historic obelisk tri-state marker where Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut meet. Golf clubs, fishing areas, farms, orchards, a bike path, and a skate park are just a few fabulous activities on offer. Spring Lake Beach and Arcade is also open from June until Labor Day and is home to the "world's oldest" penny arcade.

Oakland and Harrisville respectively have earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places. Oakland is noted as a pretty village clustered around a substantial stone mill, situated on high ground overlooking a millpond of about 75 acres. Harrisville is now considered the center of Burrillville because of its impressive Town Hall in the middle of the historic district.
