Seekonk is a suburban community on the Rhode Island border that has increasingly become a residential suburb of Providence. It's easily accessed by I-195, Route 6, Route 44, Route 114-A and many local Rhode Island Streets.
Impressions/Character
Originally inhabited by members of the Wampanoag Tribe, it is now well known for its retail area along Route 6 that includes a movie multiplex, popular national stores, lively restaurants, and sundry family activities. Seekonk is within easy reach of Boston, Providence, and the beaches of Cape Cod and Rhode Island. The town has three golf courses (Ledgemont, Pawtucket and Firefly), as well as a vital parks and recreation department. Originally a mostly agricultural community, in recent times developers have turned the farms into housing subdivisions.
Villages/Neighborhoods
Seekonk has two areas; one, the Lebanon Mills and Perrins Crossing neighborhoods in the north, and the other, the southern neighborhoods of Luthers Corners and South Seekonk.
