Sharon is a town of commuting professionals, academics, and business people, with an active network of community-minded individuals. Its western border is conveniently situated along I 95, while MBTA rail services to Boston and Providence are available along its Providence/Stoughton Line.

Impressions/Character

Until the mid 1940's, Sharon was known to many as a summer resort town, with inns and hotels surrounding its clean air and beautiful Lake Massapoag. The lake remains a beloved fixture of the town to this day, providing a perfect location for concerts, fireworks, fishing, and swimming on Memorial Beach. Parents are proud to send their children to the town's lauded schools, including Sharon High School, which was one of just two Massachusetts schools to be honored with the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award by the U.S. Department of Education.

For those who enjoy the great outdoors, the town offers expansive scenic areas which are essential to Sharon's natural New England character. This includes the 2,250-acre Massachusetts Audubon Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary, as well as 60% of Borderland State Park, encompassing 1,260 acres, including the Warner, Massapoag Brook, and King Philip's Rock nature trails. With a total of 5,000 acres of protected open space, Sharon is a veritable oasis for natural escape, yet still manages to provide convenient access to the urban attractions of Boston and Providence. As a result, Sharon was selected as one of CNN Money's 2011 Best Places to Live, ranking 11th in the entire nation.
